“My mother, Connie Piñeira, found Arcadia Gardens when she thought it was time to go from living on her own to having assistance. She’s been here almost 6 years. She looked at different places and she liked Arcadia Gardens because of the warm atmosphere. She really likes her room which has a living room and a little bedroom. She loves the meals and the music, especially when there is singing involved! I’m glad she chose Arcadia Gardens. It’s family owned and that makes all the difference. The owners, Julie and David, are warm and caring and all the employees and staff are welcoming. I have another family member at an Assisted Living Facility that is corporate owned and there is just no comparison. It is so nice to come her. If something happens or my mom has any questions, they call me. They are attentive to all her needs and they give me peace of mind.”

“Our family would like to thank Arcadia Gardens for all the excellent care and kindness given to our mother for 7 1/2 years. There are so many ways Arcadia Gardens improves the quality of life for its residents. The surrounding grounds are lovely, always freshly planted with seasonal flowers. My mother’s room overlooked the pool and waterfalls, with a view of the Italian cypresses and mountains in the distance. My mother often commented on its loveliness, saying “I got the best room!” I have looked – they all are the best rooms!

The dining room is tastefully decorated for the seasons. The food choices are very good. My mother enjoyed chatting with her friends at her table.

The staff has been amazing. They go way beyond their job description in caring for the residents. They poured their hearts into our mother’s care. Arcadia Gardens has been an answer to our prayers.” – Kindra G.

“ Thinking back to the first time I stepped into the Arcadia Garden Retirement Hotel with my mother 15 year ago, I recall experiencing an unforgettable warm welcome. We met with the staff, taken on a beautiful garden tour, chatted with the residents and enjoyed a delicious lunch. That same atmosphere remains to this very day.

The Arcadia Garden has maintained its standard of excellence, growing warmer and visibly; there are more activities for the residents to partake in. The premises are well maintained, clean and there is a friendly team at the front desk. The dining room server, housekeeping and medical crews work hard to maintain its current high standard level of excellence.

It is with these underpinning qualities that allows my mother to remain in LA with her friends as my job requires me to live in New York. It’s not easy for me to visit Arcadia Garden as often as I’d like. However, every visit only re-assures my confidence and trust in the Hotel. I feel very comfortable leaving the care of my mother to the Hotel. I know my mother’s daily activities. I speak to her and the front desk often when I am physically not present at the Hotel. The staff is always very polite, efficient and willing to help especially when I can’t reach my mother. The staff goes out of their way to find her and check that she is all right. This gives me peace of mind. I often tell Julie and David that I will plan my stay with them when I retire.”

“I have no regrets about moving my Mom into Arcadia Gardens. The staff is so accommodating and the owners Julie and David are incredible. They have been a godsend and I know my mom is in very good hands. I’m so comfortable with her care. She is in a place where she has people and life around her. She doesn’t have to wait for the weekend to get company. She’s in a place where she has friends, people serving her all the time, classical music at dinner and so much more than if she were alone in her home. I can’t say enough about Arcadia Gardens. It’s the best place my mom could be.“

“My name is Vicki Knight, I own Century Rooter- Service & Plumbing, a plumbing company here in the Arcadia area. I’m here to talk to you about Arcadia Gardens and how wonderful they are and how fabulous they have been for me and my family. My mom had a stroke a few years ago and she lived with us for a long time and she wanted to live with us until she passed.

When she had the stroke, I couldn’t care for her and run a business and give her the quality she needs so I made the choice to move her. I searched quite a few places and came to Arcadia Gardens because I heard good things about them.

They have just been fabulous for my mom. My Mom thinks she lives in a senior community in her own apartment and has friends here.

It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made because she wanted to stay with us. But now, she doesn’t remember living with us and she is very happy.

Arcadia Gardens has given my family peace of mind to continue what we do to support our family and our employees. Otherwise, everything would have had to change.

If you have to make that choice, don’t hesitate. Check out Arcadia Gardens, they can do the same for you. Give you peace of mind and care for your family.“

My parents moved in with me and my family in 2013. We felt it was safer for them to live with us due to aging. The past year their daily needs starting getting more difficult for us to take care of on a daily basis. We knew we had to consider moving them to a place where they could receive care 24/7. I spent endless hours searching for the right place. I was looking for a place that had great caregivers, was clean, and fit into my parents’ budget. Trying to find all of their needs was impossible. After several months of searching, Kim Millwee with ‘Our Golden Pathways’ told me to tour Arcadia Gardens and talk to Julie. I was reluctant to visit since it was a bit further from my home than I wanted. Kim told me it would be worth my time so I scheduled a tour; Julie, the owner, met me on a Sunday morning. The moment I walked in the door I knew this was the place for Mom and Dad. Julie is amazing; she has a big heart. It felt like I was talking to family. She made me feel at ease and comfortable with this difficult decision. During the tour, I noticed how happy the residents looked. One lady told me she had lived at Arcadia Gardens for 19 years! That says a lot. Arcadia Gardens is beautiful. Clean. I observed the caregivers and they all seemed so caring and patient. The staff was very friendly and talked to me about my concerns. My parents took a tour a couple of days later. They thought it would be a nice place to live and they moved to Arcadia Gardens in November 2018. After one week of living at Arcadia Gardens, Julie and the staff noticed my Mom needed more hands-on care. She suggested moving them to the memory care unit. I knew from talking to other people and other facilities that this was a whole different situation. Most places would have moved my Mom to memory care and my Dad would stay in the assisted living section. This was a huge concern. They have been married for 77 years and could not be separated. Another concern … budget. Memory care is a whole different level of care and with that comes a price. I knew I had to stay within their budget. I got nervous listening to what needed to be done. I knew I was unable to move them back to my home due to their care. Julie worked it out with us and they were able to stay! Again, Julie is amazing! My parents are getting the best care in Memory Lane. Katie and the other caregivers are wonderful. They go above and beyond to take care of them. They don’t even mind when we call and ask how my parents are doing. They keep us informed. They are always clean and the room is cleaned daily. This was a very difficult decision for our family even though we knew they needed more hands-on care. We are all at peace knowing they are in good hands at Arcadia Gardens. Julie and her staff are a blessing! “

A grateful son’s testimonial about his experience with Arcadia Gardens… “Walking through the front doors, I always feel good. The lighting is warm, and the residents are happy. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they all know who my mom and dad are. My mom and dad have been living at Arcadia Gardens since my mom fell and broke her hip in late July. Even though my mom talks about going home on just about a daily basis, both of them agree that they’re treated very well and the food is good. My stress level has gone from up to my eyeballs to pretty much not worrying much at all anymore. I don’t expect they’ll ever stop asking about going home or my dad getting his car back, but at least they’re not pushing too hard. Everyone seems to adore them here, and they are now only ten minutes from my house. ”

“I first moved my aunt to Arcadia Gardens over 10 years ago. She arrived with some serious health problems that kept her from getting proper nutrition and medication in her home where she lived alone. Her health actually improved once I moved her to Arcadia Gardens as she was getting 3 nutritionally balanced meals a day and she had nurses supervising and administering her medications and scheduling regular doctors’ appointments. Without this move I know she would not have lived as long as she did and more importantly would not have had such an enriched life in her final years. I was so pleased with what I saw her doing here, that I moved my mother in a few years later. My sisters and I joke that Mom acts as if she is in camp at Arcadia Gardens. Her schedule is so full with weekly activities she looks forward to like art classes, movie night, sing-a-longs and Sunday chapel that it is sometimes difficult for her to squeeze in time for us to visit. We of course love seeing her enjoying her Arcadia Garden community so. They keep a very upbeat environment and the staff has been wonderful. I can tell you that Arcadia Gardens has provided our family with peace of mind knowing that our mother is safe, happy and well looked after. I know several friends who have moved their loved ones into much fancier more expensive facilities in the area. But in the end, from what I hear, they feel like they are much less personal. I think that the fact that Arcadia Gardens is family owned and run makes a huge difference in how the residents are cared for. They are treated more like family than clients. I cannot recommend Arcadia Gardens more highly.”

““I couldn’t be happier with Arcadia Gardens. My 96-year-old Mother, Pauline, is in Memory Lane. I visit her every day. The staff is so kind and gentle with her. She loves participating in the music program and enjoys the hand massages! They really understand my mother; they give her coloring pages that she spends hours on. She’s a former pre-school teacher and arts and crafts counselor. Before we moved her here, we visited several other facilities. I’m so glad we chose Arcadia Gardens. It’s the people who work here that make all the difference.”

“I’ve been at Arcadia Gardens about 4 years. Many years ago, I had a friend who wanted to sell her condo. I drove her from Temple City to Santa Barbara to Riverside. We looked at all of the senior living places. Out of all the places we looked, we liked Arcadia Gardens the best.

A few years later I had a seizure and was hospitalized. I told my daughter, ‘Why don’t we look at Arcadia Gardens?’ You have all your meals, all your housekeeping. Everything has gone beautifully. I would recommend it highly.”

“There is so much to do at Arcadia Gardens!”

Alfredo and Betty Sipert have always been active. “I was so worried when we moved into Arcadia Gardens that I wouldn’t have much to do,” Betty says, “but, after living here for a year, we find that there are so many activities to choose from we can’t take them all in! Rick’s art classes are my favorite; I love to paint.”

Alfredo chose their room because it has a fireplace. Betty liked the kitchen. Although she doesn’t cook her German dishes anymore, she says chef Nathan makes a good baked chicken and accommodates special requests. “We also appreciate the live music that is part of the evening meal. The holidays are special here. They do an amazing job decorating and celebrating every holiday; they pay attention to detail.”

“I came to live at Arcadia Gardens 14½ years ago because I didn’t like living alone; I was lonely. I did the exercise for 8 years. I play bingo every day and I attend most of the social activities. I eat 3 meals a day, I’m happy and I’m healthy!”

“I was born in 1920 in Shanghai, China, and speak several different dialects. I’ve lived at Arcadia Gardens for 10½ years. I like it very much. I used to be quite active and play bingo and participate in the music. Now, I like to work on my iPad; I play games and communicate with my children and friends. They take very good care of us at Arcadia Gardens.”

“There are so many things I like about Arcadia Gardens. They have a lot of activities to choose from. I like the music. Rick plays a very good guitar! We have sing-alongs. The songs bring back a lot of memories. My favorite song is “Yesterday” and there are so many songs that remind me of my husband, like “Begin the Beguine.”

They have a variety of very good food. I like the taquitos, and I really like the pork because they slice it really thin.”

“I’ve lived at Arcadia Gardens for the last 9 years. What I like about the Gardens is they have something for everyone. They do a great job in our dining room; they have a wonderful chef. Arcadia Gardens gives me a ride every Wednesday to my bowling activity, which is my main hobby. I like the bingo and the bunco, and volunteer to help out during the games. I like to be helpful. Before I came here, I was always a volunteer. I volunteered for the City of Hope for 25 years!”

“I was born in L.A. and I will be 100 in June! I love California. I have 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. I was a stenographer for the Los Angeles Police Department. I’ve had an interesting life. One of the nicest parts of my life is being here in Arcadia. The people are lovely. I play bingo and bunco, and I love the concerts they have at Arcadia Gardens with Rick. I try to participate in most of the activities. Everyone is so nice here, and I love David and Julie. All the people they have working for them are really nice. I really like it here.”

A year after we moved my in-laws into Arcadia Gardens, I moved my mother in. I even referred a friend who moved her mom in! The people here are so loving which trickles down from the owners David and Julie. You can tell they screen their team carefully. Everyone is so nice to my mom and they take great care of her. They’ve always gone above and beyond for their holiday activities. Even thought these activities are cancelled due to Covid, they are still finding ways to keep us connected and offer fun things like a drive-by parade, window visits and FaceTime calls. They are doing such a great job keeping everyone safe during the pandemic. I feel confident that things are being taken care of during this difficult time. My father in law needed to go to the doctor, fix a hearing aid and replace glasses. We usually like to help with this but because of Covid we can’t. David stepped in and took care of it all. He even took my father-in-law to the doctor. It’s like having an extra family member we can rely on. I’m a big proponent of Arcadia Gardens! — Penny K.

“My Mom has been at Arcadia Gardens for almost 20 years. We’ve been very happy here. They really watch out for their residents. During the pandemic, they have done a great job making sure everyone is being safe. They provide her with 3 meals a day and make sure she stays mentally and physically active. I have a lot of respect for Arcadia Gardens. It really is one of the best places for my mom.”

“My friends, Anne and Bill, were fortunate to stay at Arcadia Gardens Retirement Hotel when it was time for them to live in an assisted living facility. I had always prayed for them to have good care. They had always wanted to be independent. After Anne was in a car accident, they had no choice. I was their POA. Anne had been like my mother for 47 years. I was very worried. Julie, the owner, and Pat, the manager, were always very supportive to me. I was worried about money. They always reassured me. It was like being part of a family. Very kind. Anne and Bill had to be together. Anne had been Bill’s caretaker. They were placed in a lovely room; it was like a studio apartment. We brought pictures from their home to hang on the walls, lots of family pictures. It was always very clean. The staff was always friendly and welcoming. Anne loved to read and the staff brought her books from the library. She enjoyed having her hair done in the beauty salon downstairs. It would lift her spirits. Bill enjoyed joking with the staff. They both needed hospice care. Every one worked together to make sure their time left on earth was pleasant. And, I could bring my dog to visit. She got lots of attention from the residents there. Thank you Julie for Arcadia Gardens!”
-Anita S.

“My Mom, Alta Dumas, has been at Arcadia Gardens for over 20 years. When she decided she didn’t want to live alone anymore, we looked at over 30 places in the area. We found the perfect room at Arcadia Gardens that looked out to my Mom’s favorite Sierra Madre Mountains. We came as a package deal. My Mom got involved in all the activities and I started volunteering. She was very active and headed the exercise group for many years until she couldn’t do it any more. We started a bunco group and I realized that people couldn’t go from table to table so I invented round table bunco. My Mom has made many good friends at Arcadia Gardens and says you never go hungry; she enjoys the food. As time went by my mom had to give up driving but Arcadia Gardens had the drivers to help her get out. Eventually she started needing more assistance. She went from retirement hotel to assisted living and then to memory lane where she has been for almost 3 years. She loves memory lane and likes her room there. The team at Arcadia Gardens has never stopped supporting me from the nurses to Valentina to Julie and David; they have my back and have always been good to me and especially good to my mom. My mother has thought of Arcadia Gardens as her home, I have no complaints.”
— Debbie Loomis

“My mother and my sister lived at Arcadia Gardens and they both had a very positive experience. My mother moved in many years ago, due to an injury, she could no longer live alone. Luckily, I found Arcadia Gardens; it was not depressing, it was comforting. I loved their patio with a swimming pool and waterfall! Their staff was so accommodating. Years later, my sister started having health issues so I introduced her to Arcadia Gardens. At first, she was independent, had her car, and could come and go as she pleased, but over time she needed more care. For 8 years, the team at Arcadia Gardens was very responsive to her needs. It was a real comfort to me when they began to manage her medication. Because I live close, I’ve gotten to know the entire staff. They did a lot to make it easier for me. I felt like I was not a stranger there. If you make your presence known, and you take time to meet everyone: the staff, the owners, and the administrators, you will learn how compassionate they are and how willing they are to listen and help. Even during Covid, they took every precaution, followed all the CDC requirements, and kept us updated. The owners David and Julie handled it really well. I give them a lot of credit and thank them for keeping everyone safe. Another plus about Arcadia Gardens is that it is close to many things in the community, so it’s easy to get to the market, pharmacy and other staples. They also have entertaining events with great music and food especially for Mother’s Day and Christmas. It is impressive and I highly recommend it!”

"The environment is beautiful at Arcadia Gardens. Some employees have stayed here for a long time, more than 20 years. That’s a good indication that this is a good place. All your needs are taken care of, everything is very organized. Arcadia Gardens is open to new ideas and suggestions and very helpful in so many ways. It’s a wonderful place to live. I want my friends to come live here too!"

“My Mom has been at Arcadia Gardens since 2017. She started in one of the apartments but has since moved to Memory Lane. She has always enjoyed the activities such as summer concerts by the pool, bunco and all the holiday celebrations. They do a great job keeping the residents in Memory Lane occupied and I appreciate that they keep me updated and informed. I’ve recommended Arcadia Gardens to a lot of people because they offer great care at an affordable price. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone is safe and healthy. They even have someone who goes around giving them water to make sure they are hydrated which is so important for seniors!”

"I decided to move here 14 years ago; it was a Godsend. I have such a great relationship with David and Julie, the owners, and the front office. I love speaking to the other residents. I’m the President of the Resident Council; we meet once a month and talk about our needs. I'm enthralled with the greenery, magnificent trees, the soothing flowers and the majestic lawns. I like my room, my TV and my music. I like it when they help me put on my shoes! The atmosphere and the people are so nice, I feel at home here. Come and join me!”
— Rafael Ybarra, Resident

"I had surgery on my ankle last year. I knew I would need help as I recovered. I could have had in-home care but chose to recover and do my physical therapy at Arcadia Gardens instead for 2 months.

My physical therapist says Arcadia Gardens is one of the cleanest facilities where she visits patients. She likes the gardens as they offer good walking paths. I also attended all the exercise classes offered to residents; those really helped me!

During my stay, I enjoyed meeting new friends and all the holiday celebrations. It’s such a nice environment. I’m so glad I chose Arcadia Gardens.”

“Susan, my Sister-In-Law, was living with her parents due to health issues. Her mother passed away and her father with Alzheimer’s was not able to take care of her. We tried an assisted living place in Westwood, but they didn't provide enough attention to Susan and the people there weren't very friendly. I made a promise to find a better place for her. Luckily, through a friend of a friend, we discovered Arcadia Gardens and were thoroughly impressed. Susan was thrilled with her new home at Arcadia Gardens. The room was spacious with a beautiful view of the garden and pool. The staff was kind and welcoming, and she loved their sense of humor. She was surrounded by friendly people who made her feel good, and she never had a complaint. Plus, the food was great! Even on hospice, Susan insisted she stay at Arcadia Gardens. Arcadia Gardens has been a gift for us. Nothing compares. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a family friend or relative who needs assistance.”

"I have been a resident at Arcadia Gardens for two years. When my son and I saw the rooms, we decided this was a good fit for me. Everything was so nice and neat.

They offer a lot of activities. I enjoy playing Mexican Train. My room overlooks the pool and gardens, which provides me with a great view of the summer concerts. I had a great time at the beading class and made a necklace I enjoy wearing.

The food here is good, and I appreciate that they accommodate my dietary needs. As I don't eat red meat, I enjoy the shrimp, chicken, and the turkey sandwiches. I indulge in a small scoop of either chocolate or Spumoni ice cream every day. Being Italian, I have a soft spot for Spumoni!

I’m happy here. One thing that really stands out to me is the transportation services provided for doctor appointments. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I can easily get to my appointments and back without any hassle.

Gisela Photo

Gisela's first experience with Arcadia Gardens was 15 years ago when she needed a place to recover following hip surgery. With too many stairs in her house, she and her friend moved in and quickly fell in love with the assisted living community. "When I saw Arcadia Gardens, I knew it was the right fit for me. I love the atmosphere and the people," she says. During her four-month stay, Gisela was never disappointed and continued to visit often even after returning home. "After we moved back home, my friend and I came back often to visit and play games and attend the activities."

Seven years ago, Gisela had another hip surgery and returned to Arcadia Gardens for another four-months of respite care. Although she went back home, she decided to move in permanently last April after her friend became very ill and needed more help.

“The meals are good,” she says. "Being from Germany, food is important to me, and I like the food here. If I don’t like something, they are accommodating. "

As someone who values safety, Gisela appreciates the priority given to it at Arcadia Gardens. "Because of my work and training at San Onofre, I see things differently when it comes to safety. The people who work here are doing a great job."

Gisela enjoys the many activities available at Arcadia Gardens, describing it as a busy place with something to do for everyone. "If you want to be busy, this is the place. There’s so much to do here, that’s why I’m here," she says. "I’ve seen other places, and they just sit around with nothing going on. They give us a nice calendar every month, and there is so much to choose from." From live music to games, there's always something happening at Arcadia Gardens. "The musicians and performers are wonderful," Gisela says. "I love to dance, and they have a dance at the end of the month in the penthouse. We play games all the time from Mexican Train to Kings in the Corner, Domino and Bingo 6 days a week. There are wonderful occasions in the summer by the pool with great entertainers."

"For residents who still drive like me, we have our own parking lot, but they also have a great transportation service that will take you shopping, to restaurants, medical appointments, and all you have to do is sign up!"
Over the years, Gisela has recommended Arcadia Gardens to many of her friends and has no complaints about living there. "They make sure people are ok, and we look out for each other in this community," she says. "I can only recommend. I have no complaints about being here."
